I joined Shorts following a long career in practice at a respected regional accountancy firm, where I progressed from Trainee to Partner. Before moving into this role, I also spent nearly two years as a Finance Director and Exit Partner within an M&A advisory firm, supporting business owners through the emotional and strategic complexities of exit planning.
My work is principally centred on providing clear, commercially focused tax advice to businesses, usually at the moments when they need experienced support they can rely on- whether that’s navigating a major tax issue, planning a restructuring, or preparing for a significant business decision.
I have extensive experience across strategic tax planning, group reorganisations, tax-efficient incentive schemes, and managing HMRC enquiries. I have also advised on numerous business sales, including structure planning, due diligence support, and guiding clients through the practical and tax implications of their exit. My background in both practice and industry means I’m comfortable working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, ensuring decisions are not only technically robust but aligned with wider commercial objectives.
I try to give clients confidence, clarity, and a sense that they have someone in their corner who understands both the technical and the human side of the decision in front of them.
Outside of work, I enjoy a wide range of sports, though due to an increasingly creaking body, I find myself watching more than I participate. I also play the French Horn in my spare time and inflicting my French and Spanish from my university studies on unsuspecting locals when abroad!
