I began my accountancy career by doing an Accountancy & Finance degree at the University of Northampton.
Upon graduating I started working for a small firm in Sheffield, where I stayed for over 20 years. During this time I experienced all aspects of the accountancy world, with my main focus being management accounts, whilst assisting the payroll and accounts teams. I assist my clients with software implementations, any required training, and always try to answer client queries in a way they understand.
In the summer of 2024 the firm was acquired by Shorts and I have been welcomed into the Genus Team.
Within the Genus team at Shorts, I am responsible for a portfolio of Management Accounts clients for whom I prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts, VAT returns and the management of the bookkeeping.
I have experience in a number of accounting systems including Sage, Xero and Netsuite.
My favourite part of the job is working closely with my clients to ensure their needs are met and they understand the information we provide.
